Who attends the Conference?

The ICT4D Conference brings together public, private and civil society organizations from across the humanitarian and international development community. Participants share how they are using innovations in information and communications technology to increase impact in addressing humanitarian and development challenges. This highly interactive and hands-on conference attracts a diverse audience of technical advisors, field-based program managers, executives, and others who offer a range of practical insights on applying technology to development challenges.

When and where is the Conference and Training Day taking place?

The 12th ICT4D Conference and and ICT4D Training Day take place under one roof in the Abuja Sheraton Hotel, Ladi Kwali Way, Abuja Nigeria. Once you arrive onsite you will have easy access to all the conference sessions and networking activities without having to travel between different buildings or venues in Abuja.

  • The ICT4D Conference: Tuesday April 21 – Thursday April 23, 2020, from 08:00 – 17:30, evening event timings are TBC

What are the Conference fees and how can I register to attend?

The indicated fees are listed in USD ($) and payment will be made in USD ($) through PayPal or by credit card or debit card.

Registration for the 12th ICT4D conference opens December 2, 2019 and the early bird discount ends January 30, 2020.

You can also register onsite at the ICT4D Conference registration desk, but please note that you may need to wait in line.  Payment in person can be made either by debit card, credit card, in USD ($) or in Nigerian Naira.

1Low/Lower-middle Income Country Discount: If you wish to register with the Low/Lower-middle Income Country Discount, please refer to the official World Bank website for a list of countries that qualify. Only those organizations founded and headquartered in a qualifying country are eligible for those rates. International businesses and iNGOs are excluded from those rates regardless of their location.

2 Not-for-Profit: Please be prepared to submit proof of non-profit status. Non-Profit rates are also being extended to: Entrepreneurs/ Startups/ Small Medium Enterprises/ Independent Consultants (less than 5 employees)

What does the ICT4D Conference 3-day fee include?

  • Access to the conference (April 21 – 23, 2020), including lunch and two refreshment breaks on each conference day
  • Access to any conference material provided on the interactive agenda webpage
  • An evening drinks reception on April 21, 2020

Are there any special offers and discounts?

The early bird rate expiries January 30, 2020. Other discounts are not valid in conjunction with the early bird or other discounted rates.

Does the ICT4D Conference cover costs and fees for speakers?

All attendees, including speakers, are responsible for covering their own costs and fees associated with conference attendance. The ICT4D Conference is organized on a not for profit basis by a consortium of partners in international development. In previous conference we have accepted over 300 speakers from the application process. In the interests of fairness and transparency to other speakers and attendees we are not able to make exceptions. We do have a limited scholarship program for selected and eligible speakers from local NGOs/CSOs from low or low/middle income countries as defined by the World Bank. You may apply for this in the application to speak. Please see tab below for further details.

If you are accepted to speak you will need to confirm your spot by registering at the applicable rate by January 30, 2020.

Who can apply for a Low/Lower-middle Income Country Discount?

If you wish to register with for Low/Lower-middle Income Country Discount, please refer to the official World Bank website for a list of countries that qualify.

Only those organizations that are headquartered in a Lower middle income, Low income country are eligible for those rates. International businesses and INGOs are excluded from those rates regardless of their location.

What are the ICT4D Training Day fees and how can I register to attend?

The ICT4D Training Day fees will be annouced shortly.

The indicated ICT4D Training Day fees will be listed in USD ($) and payment will be made in USD ($) through PayPal or by credit card or debit card.

Registration for the ICT4D Training Day conference opens January 2020.

You can also register onsite at the ICT4D Conference, from Wednesday April 22, 2020, midday onwards but that you may need to wait in line. Payment in person can be made either by debit card, credit card, in USD ($) or in Nigerian Naira. Please note, places are allocated on first-come basis and certain training day sessions may sell-out. If this happens, you can add your name and contact details to an online waiting list.

How can I make a group booking?

If you are registering a group of 5 or more, please email admin@ict4dconference.org. There are no special discounts for group bookings.

I have registered for the Conference and/or Training Day and now would like to change some of my details, who do I contact?

Email changes to admin@ict4dconference.org and we will update the details. A return email will be sent to confirm the updates have been made.

What are the cancellation and refund policies?

  • If you request a cancellation/refund before 23:59 February 20, 2020, you will receive a full refund less any PayPal/Bank Transfer administrative fees.
  • If you request a cancellation/refund from February 21, 2020, you will not be eligible for a refund.
  • If you cannot attend the conference, your registration fee can be transferred to a substitute attendee from the same organization.
  • Simply let us know who they are, and who they are replacing, by sending an email to admin@ict4dconference.org.
  • If you have booked a two or three-day ticket, you will be unable to split the ticket between two or three attendees across the different days.
  • If an incorrect registration ticket has been purchased, ICT4D Conference administration team will contact you by email and request the additional amount to pay via PayPal. Your place will be unconfirmed until we have received the outstanding payment. Failure to pay the outstanding amount will result in the registration ticket being cancelled.

Access Requirements

ICT4D Conference would like all the attendees to fully participate in the conference. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible both inside and outside.

Please let us know if you have any special access requirements, by sending an email to admin@ict4conference.org. 


Hotel accommodation is not included in the registration fee. A range of partner hotels close to the venue will be listed on the ICT4D Conference website by December 1, 2019.

Shuttle bus transportation will be provided by some of the ICT4D Conference Partner Hotels.

Internet at ICT4D Conference and ICT4D Training Day

Basic Wi-Fi connection will be available to participants.


The Yellow Fever vaccine certificate is mandatory, and travellers can be prevented from entering/exiting Nigeria if they cannot show proof of a yellow fever vaccination. The certificate only becomes valid 10 days after the vaccination.

Nigerian health authorities also recommend a vaccination against cholera and anti-malaria prophylactic for all visitors.

The ICT4D Conference recommends checking with your medical practitioner prior to departure to ensure you have received the necessary vaccinations and been advised on any additional requirements. Is there funding available to help with travel/accommodation/registration costs to attend?

Funding is not available. However, we have created the Conference Support & Guidance page with valuable advice, a template letter and crowd funding links to present a business case to managers or donors to help secure support for conference attendance and associated travel costs.

Additionally, the Visa Support Letter from the ICT4D Conference organizers is only available for all registered attendees.

Nigerian Visa

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) citizens do not require a visa to enter Nigeria. All other nationalities are advised to apply and obtain an appropriate visa; either a Visa on Arrival (the application should be commenced two weeks prior to arriving to Nigeria) or secruring a visa before you travel from their nearest Nigerian Mission (Embassy, High Commission or Consulate).

It is recommended you thoroughly check the ICT4D Conference visa information webpage and the guidelines on The Nigeria Immigration Service website https://portal.immigration.gov.ng.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this.

What language does the ICT4D Conference take place in?

This year the majority of the ICT4D Conference sessions will place in English and a small proportion of conference sessions  will be presented in French. Please note, translation services will not be provided by the ICT4D Conference. Attendees are welcome to bring a translator, please email admin@ict4dconference.org for details of how to register a translator.

Security Guide for ICT4D Conference Attendees

For the purpose of attendee security, the general security guidelines (launching soon) will be available as a planning resource to attend the ICT4D Conference and/or the ICT4D Training Day.

Conference photography and videography

ICT4D Conference captures photographs, video, and audio during the Conference to use in newsletters and other promotional materials, whether in print, electronic, or other media, including the conference website. By participating in the ICT4D Conference, you grant ICT4D Conference the right to use your name and imagery for such purposes.

What is the dress attire?

There is no conference dress code. However, business casual attire is appropriate for all participants. Remember to bring comfortable shoes and a sweater, sweatshirt or light jacket in case of cool weather and air-conditioned rooms.

I have special dietary requirements, who do I need to tell?

Any specific dietary requirements should be emailed to admin@ict4dconference.org at least 5 working days prior to the conference commencing.

Is free Wi-Fi available?

Yes. The network name and password will be available onsite, in the printed conference brochure, and clearly displayed around the venue.

Is there parking onsite?

Yes, onsite parking is available.

Where can non-guests leave their luggage at the venue?

Luggage can be taken to the Concierge Desk inside the main hotel.

How can I obtain a copy of a presenter’s presentation?

Presentations shared with ICT4D Conference will be made available on the ICT4D Conference App nearer to the conference.
