Terms & Conditions

The ICT4D Conference 3 day fee includes:

  • Access to the conference (April 30 – May 2, 2019), including lunch and two refreshment breaks on each conference day
  • Access to any conference material provided on the interactive agenda webpage
  • An evening drinks reception on April 30, 2019
  • An evening dinner on May 1, 2019

 
Registration: The attendee/booker agrees to provide accurate, complete and updated information through the online registration form. ICT4D Conference reserves the right to terminate the attendee’s registration should any incorrect, untrue or incomplete information be found.

Booking Confirmation: ICT4D Conference will confirm the booking to the email address provided.

Payment: The indicated conference fees are listed in USD ($) and payment can be made in USD ($) through PayPal or by credit card or debit card. Alternatively onsite at the venue payment can be made by card (credit card or debit card) or in cash (USD $ or Ugandan Shillings).

Attendees: All attendees are responsible for purchasing the yellow fever vaccination, adequate insurance (including, but not limited to travel, personal effects and health insurance) and where applicable for a visa too.

Special Offers & Discounts: The early bird rate expiries January 31, 2019. Other discounts are not valid in conjunction with the early bird or other discounted rates.

Ticket Cancellation: Conference fees are not refundable after March 1, 2019 and cancellations made before this date must be received in writing to admin@ict4dconference.org.

Substitutions: After the conference cancellation deadline date, no refunds can be made; however, the registration fee can be transferred to a substitute attendees from the same organization. Simply let us know their full name and job title, and who they are replacing and their job title, by sending an email to admin@ict4dconference.org.

Conference Cancellation: If the ICT4D Conference is obliged to cancel the event for whatever reason, then an attendee will receive a full refund of their fees already paid less any PayPal/Bank Transfer administrative fees if applicable. The ICT4D Conference is not liable for any travel, accommodation or other expenses incurred by attendee or their organization if the event is cancelled or postponed. The attendee’s travel insurance may cover cancellation costs.

Program & Speakers: By registering for the ICT4D Conference, the booker understands that circumstances beyond the control of the conference consortium may necessitate substitutions, alterations or cancellations of a speaker and /or program topic.

Travel: Attendees are responsible for all their own travel costs and arrangements to and from Kampala, Uganda.

Hotel Accommodation: This is not included in the registration fee. A range of partner hotels close to the venue will be listed on the ICT4D Conference website – www.ict4dconference.org/accommodations.

Shuttle Transfers: Transportation will be provided by some ICT4D Conference partner hotels not within walking distance to the Speke Resort Munyonyo. Please check the Accommodation page on the conference website for more details – www.ict4dconference.org/accommodations.

Dietary Requirements: Any specific dietary requirements should be emailed to admin@ict4dconference.org at least 5 working days prior to the conference commencing.

Social Media Tax: In 2018, the Ugandan Government introduced a social media tax for the Over The Top (OTT) Internet services at a fee of Uganda Shillings (UGX) 200 (approx. 0.05 cents) per user per day or UGX 6000 (approx. 1.6 USD) for 30 days. This is paid on top of the internet data fee.

If you would like to access services like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and other OTT platforms you will need to pay this special tax everyday. It works differently if you use a hotel or the ICT4D Conference Wi-Fi, because in this case the OTT has already been paid for their guests or our attendees.

Anti-Harassment Guidance: The 11th global ICT4D Conference is dedicated to providing a productive and informative conference experience. We do not tolerate unprofessional behaviour or harassment of conference attendees in any form. Conference attendees violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference, without a refund, at the discretion of the conference organizers. If someone is made to feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it. ICT4D Conference organizers can be identified by their badges or contacted at info@ict4dconference.org.

Photo/Video: By registering for the ICT4D Conference, the attendee acknowledge and accept that photographs or video will be taken by the organizer or its service providers, and those maybe used for promotional materials of ICT4D Conference, including but not limited to use in annual reports, future conference programs or other promotional material, and on the internet by ICT4D Conference and its service providers. ICT4D Conference reserves the right to publish the names of conference attendees in production materials and on the Internet by ICT4D Conference and its service providers.

Media/Press Passes: Passes are reserved for and restricted to publishers, editors, journalists, photographers, broadcasters and web bloggers associated with the conference subject area. Members of the media/press will be required to produce accreditation in the form of a photocopy of a recognized press or media card, business card, a letter from the editor or an official web address linking to a press release in order to verify their position. No travel or hotel arrangements should be made until ICT4D Conference confirm your attendance.

Future Marketing Activities: Contact information will be safeguarded by the ICT4D Conference as identified in the ICT4D Conference Privacy Policy www.ict4dconference.org/privacy-policy.
